Choosing the Right Bat - The Easy Choice System Assigns each Bat to One of Eight Player Types/Strengths, from Level 100 to Level 7000

Control, speed and spin are the three most important parameters when classifying table tennis bats. Therefore each bat label has a diagram with these three properties.

Control

: A high level of ball control is especially important for beginners. The control is achieved through thin sponges (up to 1.6mm). The white or yellow foam layer between the rubber surface and the wood of table tennis bats is called sponge.

Speed

: Thicker sponges from approx. 1.8mm ensure a fast, offensive game. The sponge is often referred to as the bat's engine. It generates its own acceleration, similar to an elastic string in a tennis racket.

Spin

: A non-slip, sticky rubber coating on the table tennis bat enables the ball to spin more easily for playing with a cut. The higher the bat quality, the more grippy the rubber is.
